Salon Day with the Girls

Emily has been dying to see The Host...
She calls me about it every week, "When can we go see it?"
Her daughter, Julianna even says, "Are we going to see that movie about aliens?"
So because Kyle was working on Saturday morning I told Emily we could see it then.
Just a movie, turned into a day at the Beauty School.
I called and invited my Grandmas and my baby sister, I even tried to get kyle to come along.

We all got our hair washed, Emily and her girls got a cut.
But you can't leave without curls.

Also, have you ever been to the Coachmans on 1300 S. State? Great food, best servers and amazing value!
After lunch we traded laura for Kyle and we all went to the show.
Just before the feature started the fire alarm went off, which was no trouble, added excitement to our day:)
Poor kyle had Reagan fall asleep on him and she sleeps hot!
What a fun Saturday.

Gun Safety

Does anyone else feel like getting your concealed carry permit is like one of those here today gone tomorrow trends?  I keep seeing people advertising classes on their Facebook accounts like it's a Tupperware party.
It's like back in high school when everyone was playing the guitar, so I bought one, I had and still have no clue how to use it, but I'm cool because I have one right?

I'm all about supporting the 2nd amendment  and gun safety, but I don't think that every mom should have one in their diaper bag... you know  "just- in -case".  Anyone who wants a gun should be allowed to own and carry a gun (permitted they aren't felons or aren't mentally sound etc) but I do believe that we don't have enough gun education.  So I decided to get myself ed-u-micated...

Kyle, Daniel, Megan, My Dad and I went to Doug's Shoot'n Sports, where we received some great instruction and perfected our aim.

Megan wasn't much for the noise, but wasn't a bad shot:)
Laura couldn't get enough of the 22
Daniel, Kyle and My Dad shot the big guns.
I got to shoot a little bit of everything.

I was surprised by how much I don't know about guns and how the movies portray them SO different than they are (this really shouldn't surprise me, what is displayed accurately in the movies?!)

The handguns we used where REALLY LOUD!  They also had a huge kickback, big enough to through you on your behind if you don't plant your feet just right.
Also, you have to pull the trigger back quite a ways, its not just a little flick of your finger.
Lastly, every gun is different, of the 5 guns I shot, not one felt the same.  Hitting the middle of the bullseye was difficult, but hitting the paper wasn't bad.

Before I went shooting with Kyle, I may have been a little anti-gun... but now I feel quite differently. It was good to learn a little bit about them.

PS Megan, I think I know what we are doing for your birthday:)

Kyle's amazing shots in the black!  Mine are the outside ones.
